The Shantadurga Temple is dedicated to Goddess Shantadurga, who mediates between Shiva and Vishnu. The original idol in Quelossim was relocated here in the 16th century to escape destruction during the Goan Inquisition.
The temple is a beautiful synthesis of architectural styles, featuring a sloping red roof, Roman-arched windows, a golden palanquin, and a striking octagonal Deepastambha. It is one of the most culturally significant shrines for the Saraswat Brahmin community.
