About

The Sangameshwara Temple is the oldest structural temple at Pattadakal, built by the Chalukya King Vijayaditya around 720 CE. It was originally named Vijayewara after the king.

Built in the pure Dravida style, the temple features a large vimana (tower) and exquisite sculptures of Nataraja, Ugranarasimha, and other deities. Although unfinished due to the king's death, it stands as a monumental example of early Chalukyan temple building.
