The Sandipani Ashram is believed to be where the sage Sandipani taught Krishna, Balarama, and Sudama. The site contains an ancient school room and a sacred Gomti Kund where Krishna is said to have bathed.
The ashram is one of the most significant Vaishnava pilgrimage sites in Ujjain, and the Archaeological Survey has found remains attesting to the site's great antiquity. A temple to the young Krishna and Sudama enshrines the memories of this legendary friendship.
