Samarlakota Kumararama Bhimeswara Temple

Samarlakota Kumararama Bhimeswara Temple is one of the five sacred Pancharama Kshetras — a uniquely Andhra chain of Shiva temples said to enshrine the five fragments of the lingam Shiva used to defeat the demon Tarakasura. The Kumararama temple enshrines a 14-foot tall Shiva lingam, one of the tallest in Andhra Pradesh.

Built by the Eastern Chalukya dynasty in the 9th century CE, the complex features a tall gopuram and a spacious inner courtyard with multiple subsidiary shrines. The site is a major pilgrimage centre during Shivaratri.
