The Pataneswari Temple is the presiding deity temple of Bolangir town, dedicated to Goddess Pataneswari, a fierce form of Durga. It is believed to be an ancient Shakti shrine of the medieval Chahamana rulers who governed this region.

The temple serves as the tutelary deity of the former kingdom of Patna (now Bolangir) and remains deeply venerated across the Kosali-speaking regions of western Odisha.
