The Palitana Temples of Shatrunjaya hill are among the most sacred pilgrimage sites (Tirtha) in Jainism. The hill contains a massive complex of over 860 beautifully carved marble temples built over a span of 900 years.
To reach the summit, pilgrims must climb over 3,000 steps. The site is a true 'city of temples' where even priests leave at dusk, as no one is allowed to remain overnight on the sacred mountain.
