Osian Temple Group

Osian Temple Group in the Thar Desert, 65 km north of Jodhpur, preserves over 18 Gurjara-Pratihara temples (8th–11th century CE). The cluster includes the famous Sachiya Mata Temple, several Surya temples, Harihara shrines, Vishnu temples, and Jain bastis.

Together they form an unrivalled open-air museum of early medieval Rajasthan temple art, exhibiting Pratihara-style Nagara architecture with rich sculptural programs. Osian was a prosperous merchant town and major Brahmanical/Jain patronage centre during the Pratihara era.
