The 600-year-old Nartiang Durga Temple in the West Jaintia Hills is revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where Devi Sati's left thigh is believed to have fallen. Converted from Khasi tribal traditions during the reign of the Jaintia Kings, the ritual practices blend Khasi traditions with Shakta Hindu rituals. Nearby sits the Nartiang Monoliths park.
