The Mukteshvara Temple in Bhubaneswar is a 10th-century Shaiva temple considered the gem of Odishan architecture — a masterpiece of refinement and decorative sophistication. Though small (the shikhara reaches only about 11 metres), it is celebrated for the extraordinary quality of its stone carving.
The temple is most famous for its ornate torana (arched gateway), which features carvings of dwarf figures, female attendants, and latticed windows of unusual elegance. The compound includes a small sacred tank.
The temple is ASI-protected and remains one of the best-preserved and most-photographed monuments in Bhubaneswar's 'Temple City' trail.
