Mukhalingam Temple Complex

Mukhalingam Temple Complex in Srikakulam district preserves three major stone temples of the Eastern Ganga dynasty — the rulers who later built Konark. Mukhalingam was an early Eastern Ganga capital, and the temples (Madhukesvara, Somesvara, Bhimesvara) represent the formative stage of Kalinga temple architecture on the Andhra–Odisha border.

The Madhukesvara Temple is the largest, featuring a tall rekha deul-style shikhara. Sculptural quality — guardian figures, erotic panels — shows the influence of both Andhra and Kalinga artistic traditions. One of the most important but least-visited ancient temple sites in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
