Masrur Rock-cut Temples

The Masrur Rock-cut Temples, often called the 'Ellora of Himachal Pradesh,' are a group of 15 early 8th-century monolithic temples carved from a single sandstone ridge in the Kangra Valley. They are among the very few examples of rock-cut Nagara-style temples in North India.

The temples are arranged in a mandala pattern facing northeast toward the Dhauladhar range, whose snow-capped peaks are reflected in the sacred tank below. Damaged by a 12th-century earthquake, they are still partly unfinished, offering fascinating insight into ancient construction methods.
