The Mallikarjuna Temple at Srisailam is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva and his consort Parvati. It is unique in all of India as it holds both a Jyotirlinga (one of 12 shrines to Shiva) and a Shakti Peetha (one of 18 shrines to Parvati).
The temple complex sits on the flat top of Nallamala Hills along the Krishna River. It contains numerous halls, the most notable being the Mukha Mandapa built during the Vijayanagara period. Massive walls enclose the temple complex with majestic towers.
The presiding deity is Mallikarjuna (Shiva) and Bhramaramba (Parvati). According to legend, Parvati took the form of a bee (Bhramari) to worship Shiva here.
