Maihar Devi Temple

The Maihar Devi (Sharda Mata) Temple is situated atop the Trikuta hill, reached by a climb of 1,063 steps. It is considered a major Shakti Peetha where the necklace (har) of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen (Mai-har = Mother's necklace).

The temple is deeply associated with the legendary warriors Alha and Udal, who are said to be immortal devotees of the Goddess and are believed to secretly perform the first prayer every morning before the doors open.
