Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Nuggehalli

Lakshmi Narasimha Temple at Nuggehalli was built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka under King Vira Someshwara. Dedicated to Lakshmi Narasimha (the man-lion incarnation of Vishnu), it is a classic late Hoysala trikuta (triple-shrine) temple built on a stellate raised platform.

The temple is known for its ornate carvings and the impressive series of sala (Hoysala hero) images above the doorways. Along with the Somanathapura temple, it represents the late flowering of Hoysala craftsmanship in the 13th century — a period of exceptionally refined detail work. Despite its historical significance, it remains relatively unvisited, making it a peaceful and deeply atmospheric site.
