About
Lakhamandal Shiva Temple is an ancient temple site on the Yamuna River in Dehradun district. Legend associates it with the Lakshagriha (house of lac) from the Mahabharata. The 8th-century stone temple houses a graphite Shiva linga that glistens when wet.
Carved statues of Arjuna and Bhima guard the sanctum entrance alongside rare inscriptions of Princess Ishvara (6th century CE).
