Kuruvatti Mallikarjuna Temple

Kuruvatti Mallikarjuna Temple is a celebrated 11th-century Kalyani Chalukya temple in Vijayanagara district, famous for its extraordinarily fine lathe-turned stone pillars — considered the finest in the Western Chalukya tradition — which give the interior mandapa a breathtaking visual rhythm.

The temple features a trikuta (three-shrine) plan. Its sculptural quality — dvarapalas (doorkeepers), sardula figures, and scrolling pillar bands — is so refined that scholars rate it among the masterpieces of Kalyani Chalukya temple art.
