Kiradu Temples

Kiradu is a remote 11th–12th century ruined temple complex located in the Thar Desert near Barmer, nicknamed the 'Khajuraho of Rajasthan' for its ornate sandstone carvings. The largest of its five temples, Someshvara Temple, features a towering 40-foot shikhara covered with intricate friezes of devas, apsaras, and amorous couples. The site is remarkable for its superb Māru-Gurjara sculptural tradition, still visible despite centuries of desert exposure and neglect.
