Kikkeri Brahmesvara Temple

Kikkeri Brahmesvara Temple (1171 CE) is a single-shrine (Ekakuta) Hoysala stone temple in Mandya district, dedicated to Brahmesvara (Shiva). One of the earlier dated Hoysala temples, it provides important evidence of the style's evolution before it reached full maturity at Belur and Halebidu.

The single vimana rises above a star-shaped garbhagriha with characteristic Hoysala sculptural friezes. A well-preserved temple pond and subsidiary shrines complete the complex. Often visited by scholars studying the chronological development of the Hoysala style.
