Kichakeswari Temple, Khiching

Kichakeswari Temple at Khiching in Mayurbhanj district is a magnificent 9th–11th century Bhanja dynasty shrine constructed entirely of black chlorite stone, a material renowned for its fine-grained texture enabling exceptionally detailed carvings. Dedicated to Goddess Kichakeswari (a form of Durga), the temple features a distinctive curvilinear shikhara and walls adorned with beautifully sculpted panels of Durga, Ganesha, Surya, and amorous couples in a uniquely regional Odisha style.
