Kera Shiva Temple

Kera Shiva Temple is a 10th-century Solanki-era stone temple in Kutch dedicated to Shiva. It once bore a tall, ornately carved shikhara before being severely damaged by the 1819 Allah Bund earthquake — one of history's most destructive seismic events.

Significant carved wall panels, decorative friezes, and base sections survive including ashtadikpalas, celestial nymphs (apsaras), and mythological narratives. The site illustrates the historical richness of early medieval Kutch, a region often overshadowed by Saurashtra in heritage narratives.
