The Keladi Rameshwara Temple complex was built by the Keladi Nayaka rulers in the 16th-17th centuries. Keladi served as the capital of the Nayaka kingdom, which became an important regional power after the fall of Vijayanagara.
The temple complex contains three main shrines — Rameshwara (Shiva), Parvati, and Veerabhadra — all richly carved. The museum at Keladi houses an exceptional collection of sculptures and artefacts from the Nayaka period.
