The Kalika Mata Temple in Chittorgarh Fort was originally a Sun temple built in the 8th century, later converted to a Durga shrine. It is one of the oldest surviving temples within the massive Chittorgarh Fort complex.
The fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains numerous temples including the Samiddhisvara Temple and Meera Temple (dedicated to the saint-poetess Mirabai). The Kalika Mata Temple is particularly venerated during Navratri.
