Hemakuta Hill Temples

The Hemakuta Hill Temples are a dense cluster of over thirty shrines located on a hill south of the Virupaksha Temple. Many of these temples pre-date the Vijayanagara empire itself, constructed by the Kadamba and Kalyani Chalukya dynasties.

Characterized by tiered, pyramid-like vimanas, they are dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva. The hill is a spectacular vantage point for sunset views over the ruins of Hampi.
