Hayagriva Madhava Temple

Hayagriva Madhava Temple at Hajo on Monikut Hill in Kamrup district is a 16th-century stone temple dedicated to Vishnu as Hayagriva (horse-headed avatar). The temple features an octagonal cella with a lower frieze of carved stone elephants.

Sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists (who revere it as a site of the Buddha Parinirvana), it is a major pilgrimage centre of Assam.
