The Govindaraja Swamy Temple is one of the largest temple complexes in Tirupati city, distinct from the Tirumala hill temple. It was consecrated in the 12th century by the great Vaishnava saint Ramanujacharya.
It is dedicated to Lord Govindaraja, believed to be the elder brother of Lord Venkateswara. The temple boasts an imposing seven-story gopuram with intricate carvings showing scenes from the Ramayana and Bhagavata Purana.
