Girnar Group of Temples

The Girnar hill is a sacred mountain rising 1,000 meters above the Saurashtra plain, and its flanks are covered with an extraordinary cluster of Jain and Hindu temples. The 10,000-step climb past five summits takes pilgrims past over 863 temples.

The most significant are the medieval Jain temples clustered around the second summit, built in the 11th-12th centuries by wealthy Jain merchants. The Neminath Temple, dedicated to the 22nd Tirthankara who renounced his wedding on this hill, is the most revered.
