About

The Ganpatipule Temple is situated beautifully on the pristine Konkan coast of Maharashtra. The deity, Lord Ganesha, is considered a 'Swayambhu' (self-manifested) idol that sprang from the earth.

Unlike most Hindu temples where the deity faces east, the idol at Ganpatipule faces west, purportedly to guard the western gates (Paschim Dwar Devata). The temple is set right on the white sand beach against a backdrop of green hills.
