Gadkalika Temple, Ujjain

The Gadkalika Temple is one of the most ancient temples in Ujjain, dedicated to Goddess Kali. It is most famous as the temple where the legendary poet Kalidasa is said to have worshipped, receiving the blessings of the goddess that made him one of India's greatest Sanskrit poets.

The temple is part of the Navadurga (nine forms of Durga) circuit in Ujjain and holds deep significance in Shakta tradition. The current structure was reconstructed by the Scindia rulers in the 20th century.
