Dilwara Jain Temples, Mount Abu

The Dilwara Temples at Mount Abu are considered among the finest examples of marble architecture and craftsmanship in the world. Built between 1031 and 1230 CE by Jain ministers under the Solanki rulers, the complex consists of five temples.

The marble carving here reached a level of lacework-like delicacy that has never been surpassed. From the outside these temples appear plain but inside the profusion of carved detail — ceiling medallions, column clusters, dancing figures — creates an overwhelming visual experience. The Vimala Vasahi and Luna Vasahi temples are the finest.
