Dihar Saileswar & Ghanteswar Temples

Dihar Saileswar & Ghanteswar Temples near Bishnupur in Bankura district are twin 14th-century stone Rekha deuls built of laterite and sandstone without mortar. Dedicated to Saileswar and Ghanteswar (forms of Shiva), they represent rare pre-terracotta stone monuments of Bankura.

Carved lintels show lotus medallions and river goddesses, pre-dating the later brick terracotta architecture of Bishnupur Malla kings.
