Dashavatara Temple, Deogarh

The Dashavatara Temple at Deogarh is a 6th-century Gupta-dynasty masterpiece and one of the earliest surviving structural stone temples in India using the Panchayatana layout (central shrine with four corner shrines). Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple's garbhagriha doorway and surviving exterior panels — depicting Gajendra Moksha, Nara-Narayana, and Sheshasayi Vishnu — represent the pinnacle of Gupta sculptural achievement and were hugely influential on subsequent Hindu temple art.
