Chaurasi Varahi Temple

Chaurasi Varahi Temple in Puri district is an extraordinary 9th-century Somavamshi-era temple of the Khakhara deul style — characterized by a barrel-vaulted rectangular tower dedicated to Tantric Matrika worship. The presiding deity is a seated carved image of Varahi (boar-headed goddess) holding a pot and fish.

Sculptures on the outer walls depict Tantric rites, Matrikas, and Kama scenes with crisp stone execution. It is one of the rare intact Khakhara-style temples surviving in coastal Odisha.
