Chandrehi Shiva Temple & Matha

Chandrehi Temple and Shaiva Matha in Sidhi district is a unique 10th-century Kalachuri monument built by Mattamayura Shaiva guru Prabodhasiva in 953 CE. The complex includes a circular stone monastery (matha) — one of the rarest surviving ancient monastic buildings in India — alongside a soaring Nagara Shiva temple.

Inscriptions on the matha walls detail the ascetic lineage and social patronage of the Mattamayura Shaiva sect across Central India.
