About

The Shyam Rai Temple (1643 CE) is the finest of the Bishnupur terracotta temples, built by Raghunath Singha Dev. Its 25-spired structure is unique in Bengal. The terracotta panels wrapping the exterior depict scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Krishna Leela and contemporary Mughal life with remarkable vivacity.
