Bhadrakali Temple, Hanamkonda

The Bhadrakali Temple on the banks of the Bhadrakali Lake is one of the oldest temples in Telangana, believed to date to the 7th century CE. The presiding deity is the fierce Goddess Bhadrakali, a manifestation of the Mother Goddess in her warrior aspect.

The temple is associated with the Kakatiya dynasty who venerated Bhadrakali as their royal goddess. The goddess's idol here is unique — she is depicted with eight arms holding various weapons, seated on a lion, carved from a single black stone.
