Begunia Temple Group

Begunia Temple Group at Barakar in Paschim Bardhaman consists of four ancient stone Rekha deuls built along the Damodar River between the 12th and 16th centuries. The earliest temples (Temple IV and Temple I) feature refined ashlar stone construction with lotus motifs and river goddess jambs.

They are among the oldest standing stone monuments of Bengal, documenting the transition from stone to brick temple architecture in medieval Bengal.
