About

The Bateshwar Group of Temples is a stunning complex of about 200 ancient Hindu temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River near Agra.

Built by the Gurjara-Pratihara kings between the 8th and 10th centuries, the site was long lost to the ravages of time and dacoits before being famously restored by the ASI under K.K. Muhammed. It is considered one of the most spectacular archaeological recoveries in modern Indian history.
