Baroli Temple Complex

The Baroli Temple Complex, comprising a cluster of eight stone temples beside the Chambal River, is one of Rajasthan's most significant early medieval sites. Built between the 9th and 10th centuries CE by the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty, the chief Ghateswara Mahadeva Temple features a soaring shikhara decorated with bands of intricate carvings including nagabandhana pillars, dikpalas, and river goddesses. The complex predates and stylistically influenced later Māru-Gurjara temple traditions.
