Banda Deul

Banda Deul is a solitary 11th-century stone Rekha deul in Purulia district, standing amidst dry plateau fields. Constructed of ashlar stone masonry without mortar, its tall curvilinear tower (shikhara) features decorative chaitya arches and carved door jambs with river goddesses.

It is one of the best-preserved pre-Islamic stone temples in West Bengal, showing the reach of Kalinga architectural traditions into Chota Nagpur plateau borders.
