The Bajreshwari Mata Temple (also Vajreshwari Devi Temple) in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas — sacred shrines associated with the goddess Sati. According to legend, her left breast fell at this spot.
The temple has been looted and rebuilt multiple times throughout history. Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni reportedly plundered it in 1009 CE, carrying away immense treasures. Despite repeated sackings, the temple has always been rebuilt and continues to attract pilgrims from across India.
The current temple structure has a distinctive tiered shikhara and is richly decorated. It stands within the Kangra Fort complex, offering panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountain range.
