Badrinath Temple

The Badrinath Temple, also known as Badrinarayan Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu situated in the town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu.

It is one of the four Char Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Because of extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region, the temple is open for only six months every year (between the end of April and the beginning of November).

The current structure features a brightly painted facade and a tall cupola with a gold gilt roof. The main deity is a 1 ft (0.30 m) black stone deity of Vishnu sitting in a meditative posture, believed to be self-manifested (swayambhu).
