Avantiswami Temple, Avantipur

Avantiswami Temple at Avantipur was built by King Avantivarman (855–883 CE) of the Utpala dynasty as a grand Vishnu shrine. Its colossal ruins reveal a once-magnificent colonnaded rectangular courtyard with massive carved columns, arched gateways, and monumental relief panels of Vishnu in his various Vaishnava aspects. Paired with the nearby Avantishvara Shiva Temple (also built by Avantivarman), these ruins constitute the most significant 9th-century Kashmir temple ensemble outside Martand.
