Amaravati Amararama Temple

Amaravati Amararama Temple is one of the five Pancharama Kshetras, situated at the holy town of Amaravati (ancient Dhanyakataka) on the Krishna River in Guntur district. This ancient site is also sacred to Buddhism — where the Buddha is said to have revealed the Kalachakra Tantra.

The Amaresvara Shiva lingam is said to be of divine origin, enshrining the fragment of Tarakasura's lingam. The complex is large, with multiple mandapas. Its proximity to the famous Amaravati Buddhist Stupa (with Satavahana-era sculptures) makes this one of the most spiritually layered locations in peninsular India.
