Alarnath Temple, Brahmagiri

The Alarnath Temple in Brahmagiri becomes the epicenter of Odishan pilgrimage during the 'Anavasara' period just before the Rath Yatra, when Lord Jagannath is said to fall sick and remain hidden from public view in Puri. Devotees flock here believing a vision of Alarnath is equivalent to seeing Jagannath.

The deity is a four-armed Vishnu carved from black stone. The temple exhibits typical Kalinga architecture and has connections to the saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
